Rainsville City Council Meeting

The Rainsville City Council met Monday, October 1, 2018 for a work session and business meeting. During the work session, department heads relayed the following information that affects the community:
- October is Fire Prevention Month with the Rainsville Fire Department making several educational visits
- A Stop Sign on Church Street has been removed to improve the flow of traffic
- The library raised $3,396.00 at the annual yard sale to fund various children’s programs
- Plainview’s Homecoming Parade will be October, 11th at 4:00 pm starting at Broadway Baptist Church and ending at Fifty Taters in Rainsville (Line-up will be at 3:00pm)
- Trunk or Treat will be October 31,2018 at the Rainsville Farmer’s Market Pavilion
During the Rainsville Business Meeting the following actions were taken:
- Approved the minutes from the last meeting after revising item eight to state Councilman Rosson abstained from the vote
- Authorized Mayor Lingerfelt to finance the purchase of two emergency vehicles (Tahoes) for the Police Department at a cost of $38,419.63 each
- Authorized Mayor Lingerfelt to finance the purchase of one emergency vehicle (Tahoe) for the Fire Department at a cost of $32,969.00
- Authorized paying $3000.00 for the Drill Shaft Installation for the Chavies Bridge Project
- Approved hiring Mark Clines at the Sanitation Department starting at $12.38 per hour
- Authorized Mayor Lingerfelt to finance the purchase of a new dump truck through the County’s Purchasing Program
- Agreed to pay the bills
The meeting was then adjourned.
