It was an epic comeback that just fell short Thursday at Southside. The Lady Wildcats only managed four points in the first period and trailed by 15 at the half. By the end of the third, the Lady Panthers held a commanding 39-24 lead. However, the final period was all Fort Payne as the Lady Wildcats rattled off 28 points in the final eight minutes to tie the game and send it to overtime. But a miracle finish wasn’t to be. The Lady Panthers outscored Fort Payne 13-3 in overtime to take the 65-55 win. Isabelle Goggans led the Wildcats with 27 points. Goggans hit five 3-pointers and went 6-for-7 from the free-throw line. Kori Willingham netted 11 points and TeeAnna Kerley finished with nine. Libba Sheppard followed with seven and Mattie Prewett had one.
