Henagar Mayor Issues Challenge
Henagar Mayor, Lee Davis, and the Henagar City Council issued a challenge to all surrounding cities to “Turn Your Town Blue.” The City of Henagar will honor the “Men in Blue” during National Police Week (May 12 -18) by placing blue bows throughout the city during May. They are urging surrounding cities to do the same.
This campaign not only shows appreciation for local police departments and other first responders in our area, but it also serves as a fundraiser for the First Responders Committee, which organized to plan the first First Responders Day on Saturday, May 18, 2019. This committee composed of Kayron Guffey with WVSM Radio Rejoice 103.1, Rainsville Police Chief Kevin Smith, and Rainsville Fire Chief Willimac Wright, are planning the event to honor all DeKalb County First Responders. Proceeds from the challenge will be used to fund a First Responders Memorial in the Rainsville City Park. The memorial unveiling will occur at the First Responders Day Celebration.
To participate in the “Turn Your Town Blue” challenge and support the fundraiser, purchase a $10.00 blue bow from WVSM Radio Rejoice 103.1 FM/1500AM in Rainsville, Alabama. Either call the station at 256-638-2137 or come by the station located at 368 McCurdy Avenue North in Rainsville to place an order for a blue bow.
