Cornelison Honored For Service
On May 2, 2019, the DeKalb County Board of Education met. During the work session, the board and Education Support Personel Organization (ESPO) honored Ms. Sheila Cornelison, Uniserv Director for DeKalb County, Jackson County, Fort Payne City Schools, and Scottsboro City Schools, with a retirement reception and a plaque for her many years of service.
After the actual meeting was called to order, the board approved the agenda and the minutes from the previous meeting. The board then approved the early graduation of Lauren Kinard from Ider High School.
The board approved the Non-Renewal/Termination of twenty employees. These employees are listed as follows:
•Tim Barksdale – Robotics Teacher- DeKalb County Technology Center
•Alicia Mahan – Secondary English Language Arts Teacher – Collinsville High School
• Leah Vaughn – Elementary Teacher – Fyffe High School
• Mikayla Brown – Elementary Teacher – Fyffe High School
• Addison Fugatt – English Language Arts Teacher – Crossville Middle School
• Brenda Trotman – Elementary Teacher – Collinsville High School
• Amanda Stephens – Itinerant Special Education Teacher – Crossville High School
• Emily Bales – Elementary Teacher – Crossville Elementary School
• Casey Denton – Elementary Teacher – Crossville Elementary School
• Joanna Howell – Elementary Teacher – Crossville Middle School
• Wesley Ikard – Secondary Social Studies Teacher – Head Varsity Girls Volleyball Coaching Duties Only– Crossville High School
• Natalie Silva – Secondary English Language Arts Teacher – Crossville High School
• Kayla Wilks – Secondary English Language Arts Teacher – Crossville High School
• Kari Almine – Secondary Social Studies Teacher – Geraldine High School
• Cynthia Wilt – Itinerant Special Education Paraprofessional – Valley Head High School
• Sandra Byrum – Itinerant Special Education Paraprofessional – Plainview High School
• Sharon Culpepper – Itinerant Special Education Bus Aide – Ider High School
• Heather Vaughn – Itinerant Special Education Bus Aide – Fyffe Special Services Center
• Jonathan McGill – Secondary Mathematics Teacher – Sylvania High School
• Lisa Thayer – Pre-K Lead Teacher – Crossville Middle School
• Kacy Harcrow – Elementary Teacher Crossville Middle School
The board also approved three retirements and accepted three resignations. They are listed below:
• Belinda Jolley – Secondary Science Teacher – Plainview High School – Retirement
• Janet White – Elementary Teacher – Ider High School – Retirement
• Rhonda Jolley – Elementary Teacher – Crossville Elementary School – Retirement
• Jesse Martin – Varsity Baseball Coaching Duties Only – Crossville High School – Resignation
• Jordan Kendall – Pre-K Auxillary – Crossville Schools – Resignation
• Sheri Carr – Secondary Mathematics Teacher – Crossville Middle School – Resignation
The board granted the following Leaves of Absence:
• Daniel Williams – Secondary Mathematics Teacher – Collinsville High School 7/1/19 -7/1/20
• Pamela Bryant – Custodian – Crossville High School – 2/4/19 – 5/28/19
• Miriam Moore – Elementary Teacher – Crossville Elementary School 2/26/19 – 7/31/19
• Kyndahl Fife – Secondary English Language Arts Teacher – Crossville Middle School – 8/5/19 -9/11/19
The board placed Ashley Hosch as a Pre-K Lead Teacher at Geraldine High School to fill a leave from 4/9/19 – 5/28/19, and it placed Lorie Johnson as an Itinerant Speech Language Pathologist for the system effective on 8/1/19.
Following Superintendent Barnett’s recommendations, the board approved the following:
• Job Descriptions for a Data Manager and Registrar
• Ra-lin Contract – Project Management – Collinsville Consumer Science and Agricultural Building
Dr. Barnett announced May 2, 2019, at noon as the date and time of the next board meeting.
