During the Rainsville City Council meeting, Mayor Pro-tem Rickey Byrum announced that the State of the City Address for Rainsville will be at 6:00 pm on May 9, 2022. He invited everyone to come to find out about the City’s progress. Also, during the meeting, Chamber of Commerce Director Sandy Goff updated everyone on the upcoming Chamber events. On April 27, the Chamber will host the Administrative Professionals Luncheon at the Tom Bevill Center. Cornerstone Christian Academy’s Choir will entertain the participants. On May 14, the Rainsville Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament will take place, and Rainsville’s Freedom Fest will be on June 25. For more information about any of these events, contact Sandy Goff.
The Council took the following actions:
• Authorized the bid for construction of a turn lane off of Hwy 75- to access the proposed site of a new public works facility with $175,000.00 from a Community Project Funding Grant sponsored by Representative Aderholt’s office
• Accepted Emannuel Patterson’s resignation from the Rainsville Police Department
• Hired Marvin Hairston as a full-time/mowing and maintenance worker at the Public Works Department
• Appointed Dana Grimes as Municipal Judge
• Set Pool Party Rental Fee at $150.00 (2 hours)
• Set Pool Party Hours at 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm and 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm
• Bid out the purchase of a utility vehicle for the Parks and Recreation Department with the bid opening set for April 13, at 12:00 pm
• Approved $5,000.00 sponsorship of the Rainsville Freedom Run 10K & 5K
• Empowered Mayor Lingerfelt to sign the 100% ADEM Grant for the Waste Water Treatment Plant
The next meeting will be on April 28, 2022.
