Valley Head is now home to North DeKalb Primary Care Clinic. The clinic is a family affair run by father and son John and Trey Moore. Their goal is to provide needed health care to a rural area that has been underserved in the past.
The clinic is located at 136 Commerce Street in Valley Head, but with the addition of a mobile unit, the pair can provide healthcare almost anywhere. A news report on WAFF 48 stated that the two are upgrading an RV to be a medical clinic on wheels. It will have a waiting room, exam room, and space for quick services like testing and vaccinations. The Moores envision setting up near hospitals to reduce work overload on hospitals. They also plan to park by private businesses to assist with physicals and different types of testing. Moore told WAFF, “For the private employers if employees are sick, we can literally pull up to your parking lot and do A to Z. Everything you see in the brick and mortar we can do on the mobile unit.” The Moores hope to have the RV ready to roll in a few weeks.
The brick-and-mortar clinic offers basic primary care, including lab tests and repairing broken bones. They plan to add services like x-ray capabilities and mental health counseling in the future. According to John Moore, one of the clinic’s Nurse Practitioners, they are setting up a molecular testing suite to become the only place in DeKalb County that runs COVID-19 PCR tests. The results should be available within 24 hours.
