Rainsville’s 60th Christmas Parade
Rainsville’s 60th Christmas Parade will be December 7 at 11:00 am. The City of Rainsville and The Rainsville Chamber are excited to celebrate 60 years. And they want this one to be the biggest and best parade ever!!!
This year’s parade will have our Hometown Plainview Band, Fort Payne High School Band, Scottsboro High School Band, Huntsville Fire Department Bag Pipes and Drum Band; also, Four 4-Christ and the Partain Family with the Pine Ridge Baptist Choir will participate.
Big businesses, small businesses, clubs, organizations, and individuals are encouraged to participate in this year’s parade with their floats. This year, floats will be judged in TWO categories – Commercial and Non-Commercial with prizes (1st– $500, 2nd-$300, 3rd-$200) in each division.
You may register a parade entry by completing the attached registration form and returning it to the Rainsville Chamber of Commerce, either by email to moc.letsremrafobfsctd@rebmahc, mail to PO Box 396, Rainsville, AL 35986, or drop it off at Chamber office, 115 Main St. W. Sylvania Baptist Church
Sylvania Baptist Church will host the southern gospel quartet, “The Old Paths,” on Sunday, December 1, at 10:00 a.m. Everyone is welcome to attend. There is no cost for admission. A love offering will be taken.
Flat Rock Church
Flat Rock Church will hold a singing on Sunday, December 1, beginning at 5:00 pm. The special singers will be The Cotton Picin’ Kids. The church is located near High Falls Park on County Road 356. Pastor Junior Croft and Song Director Morell Richey invites everyone to attend.
A Celebration Of the Military
The Fort Payne Garden club will present a Celebration of the Military on Tuesday, December 3, a 1:00 pm at the DeKalb Theater in Downtown Fort Payne. Every Light A Prayer For Peace.
DERA Meeting
The DeKalb Education Retirees Association (DERA) will meet on Friday, December 6, at Kelly’s Kitchen in Rainsville at 10:00 am. The guest speaker will be Ft. Payne retired educator and author Jane Simpson. Donations in cash or wish list items will be collected for the Ft. Payne Children’s Advocacy Center. All Ft. Payne City Schools, DeKalb County Schools, and Northeast Alabama Community College retired education employees are invited and encouraged to attend.
Plainview Softball Mattress Fundraiser

Mt. Carmel Weslyan will present an original play, The Makeover Christmas on Saturday, December 14, beginning at 6:00 pm.
Rainsville First Baptist Church
Rainsville First Baptist Church will host Janet Paschal, member of the Gospel Hall of Fame and frequent guest on the Gaither Homecoming Tour, will be performing a Christmas concert on Sunday, December 15 at 6:00 pm. Senior Citizen Tai Chi Class
The DeKalb County Council on Aging will be holding Tai Chi Classes on Tuesdays from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, from October 15 to February 11. Tai Chi can help improve your health, balance, assist in fall prevention, and possibly help with arthritis, depression, and neurologic conditions, like Parkinson’s and multiple sclerosis. Senior Bingo
Wills Valley Rec Center will host Senior Bingo (ages 55 and up) on the third Wednesday of each month, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. A meal will be served each week, with the Rec Center providing the main dish and everyone else bringing a covered dish. The center is located at 4220 Godfrey Ave NE in Fort Payne.
Section Church Of God
The Section Church of God, located on 84 Hodge Road, would like to invite all children ages 4 through 7 to Tiny Disciples Children’s Church each Sunday at 11:00 am. There will be a Bible storytime, crafts, and more led by Director Kelly James. Pastor Gary Nix and the church welcomes all.
N.E. Alabama Marine Corps League

At 2:00 pm on the 1st Thursday of every month, the DeKalb Baptist Association Office located at 218 Parker Avenue in Rainsville hosts the New Beacon Hospice Grief Support Group. Everyone Welcome. Call 256-574-4622.
Alzheimer’s Association Support Group

Scottsboro 1st Saturday Cruise-In
The Jackson County Cruisers will host the “Scottsboro 1st Saturday Cruise-In” on the first Saturday of each month, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, around the Courthouse Square. Anyone who registers a car, truck, or motorcycle will be entered in the cash give away drawings, and will also get one entry in the Grand Prize drawing, which will occur at the October Cruise-In, but you must be present to win. 50-50 tickets will be sold for a chance to win half the money; the other half goes to Back-Pack for Kids to help feed children on the weekends. Enjoy good music, good food, good people, and Cool Cars. Vendors are Welcome.
