John Woodall Memorial Bass Tournament
Vulcraft in Fort Payne will host their 10th annual John Woodall Memorial Bass Tournament on Saturday, April 24. The event celebrates the memory of John Woodall, a former Vulcraft teammate, and avid fisherman. All money raised will be donated to Relay for Life. Calling all singers, musicians, and everyday folks who enjoy getting together and singing songs from the “Redback Hymnal.” Back to the Redback Community Group will begin meeting on Saturday, April 24, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm, at Broadway’s new sanctuary next to Hardee’s in Rainsville. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to fellowship with friends, enjoy good music, and sing praises to God.
National Day of Prayer
The Rainsville Ministers will host their 70th observation of the National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 6, in the DeKalb County Schools Coliseum parking lot at noon. In case of rain, the event will be moved inside the Coliseum. The theme this year is “Lord, Pour out your Love, Life, and Liberty!” Everyone is invited to attend.
Ruhama Presents Mary Poppins Jr.
Ruhama School will present “Mary Poppins, Jr.” on Friday, May 14, at 7:00 pm and Saturday, May 15, at3:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Admission for students will be $3.00, and adults will be $5.00.
DeKalb Fire Association
The DeKalb Fire Association (DCAFD) is selling tickets for a cedar glider. Tickets may be purchased at Fyffe Town Hall. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. The drawing will be held on Thursday, July 8, at the DCAFD monthly meeting.
Third Saturday Sunset
Fort Payne’s Third Saturday Sunset season has begun. It is held on the third Saturday of each month until October. There are classic cars, live entertainment, food vendors, a kid’s zone, and numerous vendors set up in Fort Payne’s historic downtown district.
Dumpsters Open To Public
There will be dumpsters open for the public to put extra clean-up trash in on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays beginning Wednesday, April 14, and running through May 1, from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. The dumpsters will be at Sand Valley Landfill, located at 3345 County Road 209 in Collinsville. For organizations interested in doing a community clean-up project, free trash bags are available through the County Commission office. Contact Roger Byrd at 256-845-8500.
Ride To Support The Blue
West Street Towing will hold a Ride To Support The Blue on Saturday, May 22, 2021. The arrival time is 9:30 am, and the drive begins at noon—participants will arrive at Applebees in Fort Payne. The drive covers 81 miles. There is no entrance fee, but donations are requested for entry. All donations will be evenly distributed across local departments.
