Rainsville City Hall
Rainsville City Hall will be closed on Monday, November 11 in observance of Veteran’s Day. City Hall will also be closed on Wednesday, November 27 and Thursday, November 28, for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Rainsville’s 60th Christmas Parade
Rainsville’s 60th Christmas Parade will be December 7 at 11:00 am. The City of Rainsville and The Rainsville Chamber are excited to celebrate 60 years. And they want this one to be the biggest and best parade ever!!!
This year’s parade will have our Hometown Plainview Band, Fort Payne High School Band, Scottsboro High School Band, Huntsville Fire Department Bag Pipes and Drum Band; also, Four 4-Christ and the Partain Family with the Pine Ridge Baptist Choir will participate.
Big businesses, small businesses, clubs, organizations, and individuals are encouraged to participate in this year’s parade with their floats. This year, floats will be judged in TWO categories – Commercial and Non-Commercial with prizes (1st– $500, 2nd-$300, 3rd-$200) in each division.
You may register a parade entry by completing the attached registration form and returning it to the Rainsville Chamber of Commerce, either by email to moc.letsremrafobfsctd@rebmahc, mail to PO Box 396, Rainsville, AL 35986, or drop it off at Chamber office, 115 Main St. W. Welcome Grove Church
Welcome Grove Baptist Church, in the Peak’s Corner Community, will hold a singing on Sunday, November 10, at 5:00 pm. The special singers will be The Believers from Albertville. Everyone is invited to attend.
DeKalb County Genealogical Society
The DeKalb County Genealogical Society will hold a meeting on Saturday, November 9, at 10:00, am, in the DeKalb County Public Library. Attorney Susan Scott Hayes will speak on the importance of wills and estates. Everyone is invited to attend.
DeKalb Republican Breakfast Club
The DeKalb Republican Breakfast Club will hold a meeting on Saturday, November 9, at 7:30, am in the Western Sizzlin in Fort Payne. The speakers will be State Judicial Candidates Matt Friday and Beth Kellum. For more events and notices, look for the DeKalb County Republican Party page on Facebook.
Rainsville Holiness Church Singing
Rainsville Holiness Church will hold a singing on Friday, November 15. The doors will open at 5:30 pm, with singing beginning at 6:30 pm. This is a free event, and a love offering will be received. The featured singers will TThe Dixie Echoes and New Ground. New Ground will be recording a live project at this event and would like to pack the house with music fans. Rainsville Girl Scout Troop #10627

Senior Citizen Tai Chi Class
The DeKalb County Council on Aging will be holding Tai Chi Classes on Tuesdays from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, from October 15 to February 11. Tai Chi can help improve your health, balance, assist in fall prevention, and possibly help with arthritis, depression, and neurologic conditions, like Parkinson’s and multiple sclerosis. This is a free 16-week session. Classes will be held at the Council on Aging in Fort Payne. Call 256-845-8590 for more information.

Back to the Red Books Thursday night, singings will not meet again until March 4, 2020, due to the busy holiday schedule and time change. Join us again in March at Broadway Baptist Church located in Rainsville for a wonderful time of praising God in song.
Senior Bingo
Wills Valley Rec Center will host Senior Bingo (ages 55 and up) on the third Wednesday of each month, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. A meal will be served each week, with the Rec Center providing the main dish and everyone else bringing a covered dish. The center is located at 4220 Godfrey Ave NE in Fort Payne.
Section Church Of God
The Section Church of God, located on 84 Hodge Road, would like to invite all children ages 4 through 7 to Tiny Disciples Children’s Church each Sunday at 11:00 am. There will be a Bible storytime, crafts, and more led by Director Kelly James. Pastor Gary Nix and the church welcomes all.
N.E. Alabama Marine Corps League

At 2:00 pm on the 1st Thursday of every month, the DeKalb Baptist Association Office located at 218 Parker Avenue in Rainsville hosts the New Beacon Hospice Grief Support Group. Everyone Welcome. Call 256-574-4622.
Alzheimer’s Association Support Group
The Alzheimer’s Association Support Group holds meetings on the third Thursday of every month. The meetings begin at 11:00 am at the Rainbow City First United Methodist Church. The church is located at 3208 Rainbow Drive in Rainbow City. For more information, call Olivia Kendrick at 256-454-4375.
Scottsboro 1st Saturday Cruise-In
The Jackson County Cruisers will host the “Scottsboro 1st Saturday Cruise-In” on the first Saturday of each month, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, around the Courthouse Square. Anyone who registers a car, truck, or motorcycle will be entered in the cash give away drawings, and will also get one entry in the Grand Prize drawing, which will occur at the October Cruise-In, but you must be present to win. 50-50 tickets will be sold for a chance to win half the money; the other half goes to Back-Pack for Kids to help feed children on the weekends. Enjoy good music, good food, good people, and Cool Cars. Vendors are Welcome.
