Visitors to Mentone, Alabama, will soon have one more stop on their trip to the scenic, unique town. According to part-owner Crystal Goss, Southern Harvest Restaurant is scheduled to open in Mentone on December 28.
The new eating establishment is a joint venture between former Moonlight Bistro owners Michael and Crystal Goss and Alabama Band member Teddy Gentry, who is also known for his expertise in raising grass-fed cattle. Michael and Crystal also own the Sunshine Café in Hammondville, AL.
The new restaurant is located at 1907 Scenic Road East, Mentone, Alabama. Previously the Smokin’ Moose and J.T.s Fish House called it home. Southern Harvest will serve Italian food, steaks, seafood, and southern comfort food in a sit-down venue. Occasionally, Teddy Gentry will invite his Nashville songwriter acquaintances to entertain customers while they enjoy their meals.
Customers can expect to enjoy quality beef products provided by Gentry’s Bent Tree Farms and Randy Owen’s Tennessee River Music cattle ranch. Gentry had operated Bent Tree Farms since 1980, when he bought 60 acres from his grandfather. Both family cattle ranches raise grass-fed, organic beef adding to the quality of the product. In partnership with their daughter Randa and son-in-law John Starnes, Randy and Kelly Owen specialize in Hereford and Angus cattle on their Tennessee River Music ranch.
This business adventure will not be the first for Gentry and the Goss family. They currently own The Blue Ribbon Chili food truck serving award-winning chili from the Alabama Fan Club parking lot.
