RAINSVILLE- The city has been built, and rehearsals have begun for Broadway Baptist Church’s yearly production of Walk Through Bethlehem. BBC puts on this production each December to share the greatest story ever told- The story of Jesus Christ. This year’s event will be on December 8 and 9 from 6:00 until 9:30 pm and on Sunday, December 10 from 4:30 until 8:00 pm.
MVN spoke with event coordinators about what is involved in telling the story. Planning and preparing for Walk Through Bethlehem is a year-long process. The construction of the city and drama set started in September of this year. Men and women from the church invested their time and talent into building and erecting the city. Around 120 men, women, and children will contribute to making Walk Through Bethlehem happen. Approximately one dozen live animals will also be present to make the visit more realistic.
Organizers say, “People should expect to be transported back in time to experience the sights and sounds of the birthplace of Jesus as we take you through the streets of Bethlehem. Then, watch the amazing story of Jesus’s life unfold before you and learn what He did for us. We do this to share the good news about the free gift of salvation available to everyone through faith in Jesus Christ.”
The event is free, but reservations are required and are beginning to fill quickly. To register, visit the Broadway Baptist Church website or Facebook page and click on the Walk Through Bethlehem reservation link. Select one of the three dates, Nov. 8,9 or 10, and enter the group size. Available time options will appear, and once you make your selection, you will enter your phone number and click to confirm. You will receive a confirmation text.
Broadway Baptist Church is located at 99 McCurdy Ave. South, in Rainsville, Al. For more information, call the church office at 256-638-4219.
