Rainsville City Council Meeting

Rainsville City Council meeting held Monday, October 21, 2019, and they settled Chavies Bridge litigation. After a work session, the council entered a regular meeting and acted on the following items:
- Approved borrowing $500,000.00 from First Southern State Bank to finance the Boozer Bridge Project with a 4% interest rate
- Approved placing a street light on Bluff View Drive
- Empowered the mayor to sign a Tax Revenue Agreement Renewal with Avenu Insights & Analytics
- Approved the internal posting of a position at the Waste Water Treatment Plant for seven days (If not filled, the job will be posted outside the city)
- Accepted Mark Clines’s resignation
- Approved purchasing Boozer Bridge Tracts 1 & 5 for $2,000.00 each
- Approved hiring Gerald Mull as Full-Time Sanitation CDL Driver for $13.72 per hour
- Approved promoting Matthew Cooley to Captain at the Fire Department
- Amended the Agenda to include two additional items
- Approved paving Brown’s Chapel Road by Tri-State Paving for $38,000.00
- Approved paying the city’s portion of paving Shiloh Ranch Road for less than $80,000.00
- Approved $1,824.02 to ProClean for repairing the library basement
- Empowered the mayor to sign a contract for the Explorer Program at the Rainsville Fire Department
- Approved the First Net Cellphone Agreement
- Tabled pay raises for two weeks until Councilman Rosson and Councilman Stiefel report back with a plan for the pay raises
The council entered into executive session after completing the agenda. Upon exiting the executive session, the council reconvened and approved settling the Chavies Bridge litigation and closing out the Chavies Bridge Project. The next Rainsville City Council meeting is November 4, 2019.
