RAINSVILLE – The Rainsville City Council announced at its September 18, 2023, meeting that it will host a special meeting on September 25 at 6:00 p.m. for area realtors and builders to share their ideas about the current City ordinances affecting construction and the housing market. The meeting will be held at the Rainsville Courtroom and Council Chambers. Anyone interested may attend. The City is in the process of reviewing existing ordinances, so they are open to input from others.
During the September 18 meeting, the Council approved the following items:
• Hiring Taylor Black as a backup Magistrate for the Court at $40.00 per Court
• Adopting the new payscale that adds a $1.00 raise to each employee
• Adopting the 2023-2024 budget that includes an additional 3% cost-of-living adjustment
• $4,200.00 to Boozer Construction for sidewalk improvement in the City park
• Accepting the resignation of Shylen Jacobs from the Rainsville Police Department
• Resolution 90-18-2023 declaring a shooting range box as a surplus
• $1,311,49 to Evangeline Specialties Signs for road sign refurbishment
• $30,000.00 to the Agri-Business Center for sign replacement
• $1,200.00 donation to the Veterans Memorial program
• $1,865.86 to Equipment Share for pump rental at the Waste Water Treatment Plant
The next regularly scheduled meeting is on October 2, 2023.
