The Rainsville Chamber of Commerce may make many Rainsvillians’ dreams come true on May 2, 2023, when it requests the Mayor, Rainsville City Council members, and several other town characters be arrested and remain in jail until they raise enough money for their bail.
The Rainsville Chamber of Commerce’s Jail Bail Scholarship Fundraiser will be on May 2. Warrants will be issued for 25 arrests, and the criminals will be apprehended, stuffed, cuffed, and thrown in the slammer until they raise $100.00 or more for the Chamber’s Scholarship fund. Judge Ronnie Osborn, Dr. Anderson, and a yet-to-be-named judge will preside over the hearings. Be sure to have your phones on that day to bail out these poor souls and help send students to college.
Rainsville Chamber of Commerce Director Sandy Goff promoted the Jail Bail at the April 17, 2023, Rainsville City Council Meeting. Goff also announced that plans were in place for the 2023 Rainsville Freedom Fest to be held on June 24, 2023. The Council approved $13,700.00 to upgrade and add electrical outlets and poles to the Freedom Festival location to make the event even better than before. More information about the event will be given closer to the event’s date.
Before the Council meeting, Mayor Lingerfelt and several Council members posed for a picture with the City’s latest equipment purchase which should make repairing potholes more efficient and effective. The City bought a new trailer and asphalt packing machine that will allow the City to patch its potholes smoothly and quickly without contacting outside assistance. If you have a City road that needs a pothole fixed, contact City Hall or one of the Council members about the new machine.
During the business portion of the meeting, the Council approved the following items:
- Resolution 04-17-2023A accepting the bid of $160,175.74 from Vantage Construction, LLC for the construction of a new access road to the new proposed Public Works Facility site
