Rainsville native and Plainview graduate Jordan Doufexis moved from his small hometown to the nation’s capital in Washington D.C. to join newly elected Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville as his Senior Advisor and State Coordinator. Doufexis received his new position in December of 2020. He was one of the two chosen to go to D.C. right after the November election to set up the Washington office for Senator Tuberville. His family joined him permanently there last week.
MVN asked Doufexis what the last few weeks have been like in Washington D.C. with all the political unrest. He stated, “These last two weeks have been surreal. I’m literally sitting in the front row of history. People probably think something is wrong with me because I’m walking around smiling all the time. It’s been a chaotic start to the year, but it’s hard not to be excited to actually land my dream job that I’ve worked for over a decade towards.”
When asked what he felt to be the greatest challenge in his new position, he stated, “Capitol Hill is its own world. There’s politics on the Hill, on tv, and back home in Alabama. Those three don’t ever seem to act in the best interests of each other…and it’s crucial that I never lose sight of the fact that I’m here to serve Coach Tuberville and help the people of Alabama.”
How did landing his dream job happen? Doufexis achieved this accomplishment through endless hours of hard work and dedication to the task. He started his career in politics and the media world as early as 2013, working on DeKalb County Revenue Commissioner Tyler Wilks’s campaign. Also, Doufexis used his social media skills to campaign for Senator Marco Rubio as the Alabama Digital Grassroots Director in Rubio’s run for president. He played an instrumental role in Dr. Jason Barnett’s successful campaign and that of Circuit Court Judge Andrew Hairston. This experience laid the foundation for his work with the Tuberville campaign.
Doufexis, along with his wife Ashley, also are entrepreneurs developing a business that gives small businesses the tools and technology needed to help consumers shop online and receive home deliveries. They were partners in the Go Native, Native Marketing and Strategy, Inc, and Creator and Executive Producer of Heat Check – A season with the Plainview Bears reality show.
House Majority Leader Nathaniel Ledbetter chaired Senator Tuberville’s campaign for the Senate. He stated, “Jordan first started overseeing Tuberville’s digital campaign, but quickly advanced to a more vital role. Shortly after joining the campaign, we had him traveling daily with ‘Coach’ to assist with day-to-day operations. Coach is glad to have him because he trusts him. It has been a pleasure to work with him and see him grow and develop during this campaign. I am sure he will do an excellent job for Senator Tuberville.”
Britney M. Garner, Senior Advisor to Tuberville for Senate Campaign and State President of the Alabama Federation of Republican Women, commented, “Jordan was instrumental in making the Tuberville Senate Campaign a success. Jordan worked with the team to craft messaging and traveled with Coach throughout the state of Alabama, meeting with key state and local officials. Jordan is well versed in Alabama politics and will serve our State and Nation well.”
Senator Tuberville described Doufexis this way, “Jordan is a very valuable member of my staff, and he is one of my most trusted advisors. Jordan is a great family man and has a great future as a leader for Alabama and America.”
Mountain Valley News extends its best wishes to both Doufexis and Senator Tuberville as they navigate the political unrest in our nation’s capital to represent Alabama well.
