Every nine weeks, DeKalb County and Fort Payne City Schools’ students must carry home the dreaded report card for parents to evaluate. The school systems must face this task for themselves only once each year. The Alabama State Department of Education released its school report cards this month.
Fyffe and Plainview were the only schools in DeKalb County receiving an “A” on their report cards. According to the Alabama State Department of Education, the state considers academic achievement, academic growth, progress in English language proficiency, chronic absenteeism, graduation rate, and college and career readiness in calculating grades.
Plainview earned an overall 90% with a 74.34% in academic achievement, 100% in academic growth, and a graduation rate of 95.24%. Fyffe also earned an overall 90% with 69.46% on academic achievement, 100% on academic growth, and a graduation rate of 95.5%.
