FYFFE – Jack’s Family Restaurants (Jack’s), a Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) headquartered in Birmingham and boasting almost 250 locations across the Southeast, crowned Skylar Roberts of Jack’s in Fyffe as its 24th Annual Biscuit Bake-Off Champion. Along with the title of ‘Jack’s Biscuit Bake-Off Champion 2023,’ Roberts also received a $1,500 prize.
The employee-wide competition was narrowed to eight regional employee finalists who competed in the main event held today, Sept. 21, at Jack’s Corporate Office. The event was emceed for the second consecutive year by WBRC FOX-6 Anchor Jeh Jeh Pruitt and was judged by Jack’s Culinary and Research and Development Lead Kevin Ash, President of the Jack’s Family Fund and Director of Training and Talent Michael Greco, Jack’s COO Karen Kelly, Comedian Matt Mitchell and Miss America Organization CEO Nan Teninbaum. Competitors were judged based on biscuit height and diameter, pan color consistency and overall taste.
“At Jack’s, we take pride in hand-making our biscuits fresh each morning,” said Jack’s CEO Todd Bartmess. “Our Biscuit Bake-Off event showcases our best biscuit makers across the region and celebrates one of the South’s most beloved menu items.”
Jack’s Biscuit Bake-Off began in 1999 and has since maintained a four-round competition format: store level, area level, regional level and final round. After first winning their stores’ bake-off competition, a total of 36 regional winners were narrowed to eight finalists, including: Pam Clambrome (Jack’s Columbiana, AL), Cora Collins (Jack’s Cleveland, MS), Alycin Cortney (Jack’s Chickamauga, GA), Juanita Davis (Jack’s Citronelle, AL), Bernita Hinton (Jack’s Tuscaloosa, AL), Chrissy Jackson (Jack’s Blountsville, AL), Kiairra Jackson (Jack’s Cochran, GA), as well as Skylar Roberts (Jack’s Fyffe, AL).
