New Businesses Open in Rainsville
By Sherri Blevins
Rainsville welcomes two new businesses that are up and running, ready to serve the public. The Salon Mainstreet and Granna’s Goodies both opened their doors in December 2020.
Katelyn Johnson is the new owner of The Salon Mainstreet, located in the newly remodeled former location of Alice Circle at 1012 Main Street West in Rainsville. The Salon specializes in nail services and color services. Nail services include dip nails, French dip nails, gel manicure, French gel manicure, pedicure, and pedicure plus gel. Color services include all-over color, root touch, partial and full highlights, highlight-lowlight, Balayage, Toner, and color correction.
Katelyn and her sister Kylie Hawes designed and decorated the Salon giving it a comfortable, sophisticated feel setting the stage for a relaxing experience. A branch of Graham Clothing Company is located inside the business, stocking the store with various designer tops in several sizes. Brittney Graham, formerly of Rainsville, is the owner of Graham Clothing and is excited to partner with Katelyn in this new adventure.
On December 11 and 12, 2020, Katelyn welcomed new clients with an open house giving away two gift baskets filled with products from Nancy’s Lunchbox, Alice Circle, Graham Clothing Co., KK Girls, and The Salon Mainstreet. For more information or to make an appointment, call 256-601-8728 or visit The Salon Mainstreet Facebook page.
Granna’s Goodies is another welcomed addition to the Rainsville community. Owners Donny and Dana Walker, along with their four children Aaliyah 16, Cole 10, Emory 6, and Bentley 3, operate this family-style business. Dana is in charge of the day-to-day operations since her husband Donny works full-time with CSX Transportation traveling the country for the railroad. The youngest of the siblings, Bentley, joins his mom each day from 7:00 am until 5:00 pm to help her bake her delicious goodies. After ending their school days at Fyffe High School, Aaliyah, Cole, and Emory earn their keep at the bakery.
The Walkers are not newcomers to the bakery world. Previously, they owned a Boaz shop, but they have recently built a house in Rainsville and wanted to relocate Granna’s Goodies closer to home. Dana stated, “Even though I am from Boaz, and my husband is from Crossville, I wanted to give back something to the Rainsville community where we live now for our kids and their friends and families. We noticed there is nothing like this bakery around the area.
Granna’s Goodies not only creates delicacies for the sweet tooth, but it also offers breakfast and lunch Tuesday through Saturday. Granna’s is open weekdays from 7:00 am until 5:00 pm, and Saturdays from 8:00 am until noon. The breakfast menu includes biscuit/gravy, sausage biscuit, muffins, and cinnamon rolls. At the same time, lunch selections include turkey, ham, and BLT panini bread sandwiches, premade and made to order salads, a soup of the day, and a daily special. Desserts include cupcakes, brownies, various homemade cookies, chocolate-covered pretzels, chocolate-covered strawberries, and cheesecake. Dana stated that she does bake cakes for the public, but she is only offering simple designs because of time constraints. In the future, she plans to employ a full-time cake decorator. Hopefully, by spring, she said she also plans to create homemade milkshakes and provide specialty balloons to make any event special.
Be sure to visit The Salon Mainstreet and Granna’s Goodies before too long to support Rainsville’s small businesses.
