Rainsville City Council Meeting

The Rainsville City Council met on Monday, December 2, where in Mayor Rodger Lingerfelt’s absence, Councilman and Mayor ProTem Ricky Byrum moderated the meeting. After approving the minutes from the previous meeting, the council approved the following motions:
- Ralph Hall to remove the stage in the park effective immediately
- Empower the Mayor to sign a 5-year contract with Coca Cola for the Field of Dreams
- Replacement of the heating and air unit in City Hall by Rainsville Heating and Cooling for $14,800
- Hire Michael Wilbanks as a driver for the Sanitation Department
- Salary adjustment of 26¢ per hour for three sanitation department employees, to meet necessary requirements, effective immediately
- Accepted resignation of Police Officer Steven Malone effective November 29
- To post position left vacant by Officer Malone’s resignation
- Empower the Mayor to start bid process for a sewer line project
- Purchase spikes for the Police Department at a cost of $5,086.60
In the way of announcements, the council wanted to remind everyone of the 60th annual Christmas Parade that will take place on Saturday, December 7, at 11:00 am. The Council also announced that there will be a ground breaking at Boozer Bridge on Thursday, December 5, at 4:00 pm. After a move and second to pay the bills the meeting was adjourned. The next meeting will be held on Monday, December 16.
