The 2024 Mrs. Alabama is a Rainsville native and will be going to the Mrs. America pageant in August 2024.
Hannah Pearcy Seymour explained that she has a long history of competing in pageants.
“I decided to enter because I love pageants. It’s something I did before I had kids and before I was married. I found out about this pageant online. So, I did a little research, and I found that my values and the values of the pageant aligned. They really focus on family. The motto of the pageant is ‘We Are Family,’ which is a thing that is really important to me, so I decided to enter.”
The Mrs. Alabama state pageant was held in Pell City, Alabama, on Mar. 9, 2024.
The competition consisted of an interview in front of three judges, onstage with the evening gown and swimsuit, then an onstage question at the end.
“I was obviously excited and nervous. I kind of just wanted to take some time for myself. As a Mom and someone who spends a lot of time thinking about taking care of my children, it was just an opportunity for me to wear a beautiful dress and really focus on myself and make myself better. I think something that’s really cool about pageants is they really help you work on yourself,” Seymour continued.
With only six weeks to prepare after discovering the pageant and making the decision to sign up, Seymour had to hit the ground running. She stated, “I got there, really excited to be back in the pageant world. I had missed it more than I realized. We rehearsed that day and sat down with the judges for an interview, and I felt like my interview went really well. I got to talk about myself, my family, my children, my platform, and how I want to spend my year.”
Seymour’s platform is Ready, Set, Go, and it encourages people to try new things and pursue their dreams.
She stated, “I’m someone who is in my second career. Now, as an accountant, I’ve gone back to school with children after I had a bachelor’s degree in social work. So, I really just want to encourage people to pursue the things that they want to do. I got to talk about that in my interview.”
“I got to spend the day with women from all over the state,” Seymour added, “which was really cool to get to meet and be around like-minded women who are in a very similar place that I am and just get to know them and their stories, what makes them different.”
At the end of the competition, Hannah Seymour was crowned Mrs. Alabama, which she described as a “shock.”
“My family got to be there. This was the first time my husband got to see me compete in a pageant. My daughter was there, and I don’t think anybody was more excited than her. It was fun to be able to share this with them. Hallie is really into it now. She got to see the preparation and then the actual night. We got to talk a lot about being confident but still having humility and about what happens if you don’t win, how you win with grace, and if you don’t win, it’s still great because I know who I am and I’m still really proud of myself for doing this. Doing pageants as a mom and being able to share this with her was just an added benefit.”
Hannah is married to Taylor Seymour. They have two children, Hallie, age five, and Hudson, age two. Hannah graduated from Plainview High School in 2011 and currently works at Dawson Accounting.
Seymour is spending her summer preparing to compete in the Mrs. America pageant in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the Westgate Hotel on Aug. 28, 2024. “I’ll get to spend 10 days in Las Vegas in rehearsals, photo shoots, etc. We’ll get to go to the Elvis suite and do lots of really cool things like that. Getting to represent Alabama is so cool,” she concluded.
If Hannah wins the Mrs. America title she will then go on to compete in the Mrs. World pageant in January 2025, also at the Westgate Hotel in Las Vegas.
MVN would like to say congratulations on being the 2024 Mrs. Alabama and good luck in the upcoming pageants.
