Welcome to Boom Days
By Bonita Wilborn
Boom Days is a multi-event cultural heritage festival presented by the City of Fort Payne during the week of the third Saturday in September. This year (2019) will be the city’s 14th annual celebration. Presentation of the festival is facilitated by the harmonious efforts of a long list of local groups and organizations, coupled with very generous support from numerous community-minded sponsors. The objectives of the festival are to entertain, to heighten cultural and historical awareness, to promote community participation, and to stimulate tourism in beautiful and historic Fort Payne. There’s music, art, food, and fun for everyone at Boom Days. We are also proud to say that Boom Days is a Southeast Tourism Society Top 20 Event, so bring your friends and family and spend some quality time in Fort Payne this weekend.
Fort Payne Boom Days Heritage Celebration has a much deeper breadth of events and activities and a much further reach bringing in tourists from all over the region. It’s a significant cultural event for our city, celebrating Fort Payne’s unique beginnings nearly 130 years ago.
Boom Days Heritage Celebration honors Fort Payne’s rich cultural past with events that tie the history to the present, great historical artifacts and clothing at the Fort Payne Depot Museum, a miniature railroad system in the original office of the Coal and Iron Company, music covering all musical genres with more than two dozen acts on six different stages.
