We are back for week 2. Man, if it gets any better this week, we may have to get me a bodyguard. We have been getting all kinds of calls about this Bum podcast. Heck, I am not even sure what that is! All I know is that they have me go to the studio to record my weekly football talk. They are putting this stuff on something like a radio, except it is streamed on this thing called a podcast. My manager (my Wife Ethel) said, just do what they tell you to do, and they will take care of the rest. She said they have people calling wanting to be a sponsor on my show. I told Ethel I thought we had to pay just to put it in the paper. Ole Sammy and Monk are even giving away prizes if you can outpick the Guru. I really don’t know what they are thinking! Do they really think an average Joe off the street can outpick me? We will see about that! If you want to sponsor the podcast, you can call the good folks at Mountain Valley News, who will take care of it for you. Now, let’s talk about something I know all about, football!
What a great week of football! How about the slobber knocker down at Fyffe? The Dogs came ready to play! They shut out Fyffe until the fourth quarter when the Red Devils got on the board. The Dogs are the real deal as they took down the Big Red Machine 17-6!
The Panthers of Collinsville traveled to Gaylsville to take on the Trojans. The Panthers ran up and down the field on the Trojans as they put a horsewhipping on Gaylesville 47-0. The Ider Hornets stung the Asbury Rams 46-13 for the win. The Sylvania Rams traveled to Saxs. These Rams caged the Wildcats 49-14.
The Wildcats of Fort Payne slapped the Blue Devils of Etowah around for a 54-27 win. The Tigers of Valley Head became king of the jungle with a 56-0 win over the Lions of Section. The Bison of NSM ran upon an aggressive group of Wolverines as Dade County ran past NSM 55-13.
The Eagles of Pisgah jumped on the Golden Bears of Lexington and held on for a 42-27 win. The Wildcats of Scottsboro scalped the Chiefs of North Jackson 44-15. Brian Kelly said, “We are going to beat the heck out of Florida St!” He needs to stick to coaching because he can’t pick. Florida St. 45 LSU 24!
Now, let’s talk about week # 2!
Collinsville heads to Section for the Riley Edwards Bowl. Coach Edwards was a long-time assistant at Collinsville. He is now the Head man at Section. I think the Panthers are too much for the Lions, as Collinsville wins 31-14! Whitesburg Christian comes calling on Ider. I look for the Hornets to swarm the Warriors 38-17.
Piedmont heads to Sylvania. This is a rematch of the Semi-final from last year. I don’t think it will have the same results as the Mighty Rams tame the Bulldogs 34-21. The Big Red Machine ran out of gas against the Bulldogs last week. Look for them to have a full tank this week as they defeat NSM 48-12.
The Bears of Plainview travel to Geraldine. This game should be a good one. The Bears are young, but they have a veteran coaching staff! Geraldine is loaded with talent! They have a great coaching staff. I think this may be closer than some folks think. But in the end, the Bulldogs get the win 31-28. Valley Head makes the long trip to Decatur Heritage. Decatur Heritage has rolled up lots of points in its first two games. In a close one, Decatur Heritage wins 28-21.
Sand Rock makes its way to Pisgah. The Eagles are loaded with players. Pisgah wins big 48-14. Mae Jemison travels to Fort Payne on Thursday Night. The Wildcats have clawed their way back after a slow start two weeks ago. The Cats win 45-17.
Cedar Bluff goes to Woodville. The Panthers of Woodville had the week off. In an upset, Woodville 28 Cedar Bluff 24. Westminister Christian makes the trip to North Jackson. North Jackson played well in the first half of the Scottsboro game. I look for them to play well in both halves this week, as they win 24-14. Boaz and travels to Scottsboro. Boaz got a big rivalry win over Albertville last week. Scottsboro is rolling along. I think Scottsboro takes down Boaz 45-27.
Well, we have another week in the books. The season is flying by. Get out, enjoy some football, and save me a spot by the fence. See you next week for week 3!
