The Little River Canyon Center and Jacksonville State University (JSU) Field School, located at 432 Little River Canyon Trail NE in Fort Payne, will host its annual Canyon Camp again this summer in the months of June and July.
The camp dates are as follows:
• Grand Camp – for ages 5 – 8. Cost is $50 per child. Wednesday, June 8 – Friday, June 10 from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM (Must be accompanied by an adult)
• Canyon Camp – for grades 2 – 4. Cost is $150 per child. Tuesday, June 14 – Friday, June 17 from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Drop-off begins at 8:30 AM)
• Canyon Camp – for grades 5 – 6. Cost is $150 per child. Tuesday, July 12 – Friday, July 15 from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Drop-off begins at 8:30 AM)
Every day’s events will be held at the canyon center. Schedule of Canyon Camp activities include:
Day 1: Creek Day – Encounter live amphibians in the classroom and their natural habitats!
Day 2: Bugs and Decomposers Day – Meet larger than life insects and observe them in nature!
Day 3: Native People Groups Day – Learn the history and study real artifacts from Native People in the Lookout Mountain area.
Day 4: Fun with STEM – Create life-size bubbles, experiment with elephant toothpaste, and test your own rocket!
