RAINSVILLE—The Rainsville City Council had a busy night this past Monday at its March 18, 2024, meeting. Several needed big-ticket items were on the table.
The Council approved $12,237 to upgrade and add additional cameras to the City’s security system. Mayor Lingerfelt said additional street cameras were needed on Hwy 35, Hwy 75, and Marshall Road. The police department will be able to use the camera video to assist in investigations and monitor traffic concerns. The Mayor said two more cameras were needed to add security to City Hall in the area where money is counted and at the cash register in the pool office.
The Rainsville Fire Department will be getting a new training facility to comply with the ISO code for fire safety. The Council authorized Mayor Lingerfelt to obtain a construction loan from First Southern State Bank for up to $70,000 for the building.
The City will also purchase a $409,985.42 sanitation truck from Ingram Equipment through Sourcewell. The cost of the truck will be added to the current sanitation loan at First Southern State Bank. The truck is needed because the existing trucks break down frequently, and the Council wants garbage service to continue.

- $10,000 to replace a drainage pipe/sewer line on George Wallace East
- $4,000 to Bottom Lands, LLC for stump removal on Everett Road
- $3,671 to Fun Source, Inc. for a downpayment on inflatables for the Freedom Fest

- Resolution 03-18-2024(C) approving the Municipal Water Pollution Prevention Program
- Resolution 03-18-2024(D) designating Mayor Lingerfelt to be the official representative for the City of Rainsville for the purpose of furnishing ADEM information pertaining to the application for a CWSRF Grant
