Dekalb County BOE Meeting
The DeKalb County Board of Education met on December 10, 2019, for its December meeting. Among other actions taken at the meeting, the board unanimously voted to hire Dr. Richard Rutledge to fill the principal vacancy at Plainview High School.
The board approved the early graduation of Collinsville High School student Crystal Briggs, and Crossville High School students Anna Edmonson, Lilliona Morales, and Zoe Zones.
The board approved the following bids:
- CNP – Double Stack Steamer for Collinsville High School – Hawk, Inc. – $13,961.22
- CNP – Holding Cabinet for Collinsville High School – BRESCO – $4,596.00
- Re-roofing projects at Multiple Schools – Willoughby Roofing and Sheet Metal-Local- $179,415.00
The board accepted the following retirements and resignations:
- Bruce Shores – Maintenance Worker – Facilities – Retirement – 1/1/20
- Thomas Henderson – Custodian – Ruhama Junior High School – Resignation – 1/3/20
- Perla Crump – Itinerant Transliterator – System – Resignation – 12/20/19
- Jonathan Cole – 10.5 Month Custodian – Crossville Elementary School Resignation – 9/23/19

During the Superintendent’s comments and recommendations portion of the meeting, the following actions occurred.
- Dr. Barnett congratulated the Fyffe Football Team on their State Championship win
- The board approved purchasing the Lightspeed – Relay, Classroom, Analytics- with Local funds for $54,300.00
- The board awarded the Vehicle Purchase Bid Award to Donohoo Chevrolet
- Donohoo Chevrolet- Chevrolet Malibu- Five Drivers Education Vehicles at $18,397.21 per vehicle Total: $91,986.05
- Donohoo Chevrolet- Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Maintenance Vehicle- $21,022.20
- Donohoo Chevrolet- Two Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Maintenance Vehicles at $31,854.28 per vehicle Total: $63,708.56
