Commission Updated On Roads
On Tuesday, May 14, 2019, the DeKalb County Commission met and President ProTem, Chris Kuykendall, presided over the meeting due to the absence of President Ricky Harcrow. After the Pledge of Allegiance, the commission approved the minutes of the last meeting and then entered into New Business.
Tom Broyles, Road Department Superintendent, updated the commission on progress at the road department. He reported herbicide application is continuing as well as patchwork on potholes. Broyles informed the commissioners that it is time to sell one of the road graders and purchase a new one as a part of the buy and sell rotation program. The commission voted to authorize the road grader to be placed in the spring auction and arrange for the purchase of a replacement machine. Broyles also asked for permission to post a job opening for the spot vacated by the retiring employee, Donnie Lee. The commission approved this request.
The commission then acted on the following items:
• Approved County Road 106 Speed Limit Resolution reducing the speed limit on State Road 117 running from Mentone to the intersection of State Road 922 at the Georgia line to 25mph and reducing the speed limit to 30mph on the portion running from State Road 922 to County Road 165 intersection
