The weekend of September 16-18 was a devastating time for many families in DeKalb County, with accidents claiming three lives.
Early Friday morning, September 16, a Collinsville man was killed when the 2021 Mack tractor-trailer he was driving left the road and overturned.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Christopher Scott Mullins, 47, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers said the single-vehicle crash happened about 4:24 am on Cherokee County 1 near Cherokee County 672, about two miles south of Collinsville, in Cherokee County. Officials are still investigating to find more details about the event.
Another highway accident involving a motorcycle happened on Saturday, September 17. DeKalb County Coroner Tim Wilson stated that 29-year-old Tyler Shyne Bates was killed in the accident on Carlyle Road in Rainsville. Another passenger was injured in the crash.
High Falls Park in DeKalb County was the location of a Saturday afternoon accident. A 70-year-old man took a fatal fall at High Falls Park in DeKalb County. Coroner Tom Wilson said Emmanuel Michael Gedeon slipped and fell about 60 feet to his death Saturday around 2:00 pm. Gedeon’s body was recovered about two hours later.
