Fort Payne City Council Meeting

The Fort Payne City Council met on Tuesday, October 1, 2019. After a professionally delivered presentation from the Fort Payne High School “Best Robotics” team requesting support, the council appropriated $1,000.00 to support the team.
- The City of Fort Payne agreed to share expenses with Fort Payne High School for four new and four refurbished tennis courts at Fort Payne High. The city’s portion is approximately $200,000.00.
- The city agreed to place a streetlight at the intersection of Marlo Street and Martin Avenue at the request of several street residents.
- The council granted two activity permits to the Chamber of Commerce for the Halloween Block Party on Thursday, October 31, on Gault Avenue from 1st Street to 5th Street North, beginning at 5:00 PM, and for the December 9 Christmas Parade on Gault Avenue from 18th Street North to 3rd Street South, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
- Also, the city agreed to allow a local citizen to use the City Pavillion to host a Benefit Ride on October 19, 2019. The ride benefits a kidney transplant recipient.
At the end of the meeting, a citizen from the audience commended all the city employees responsible for the clean-up that occurs after city events.
The next meeting of the Fort Payne City Council is October 15, 2019.
