By Mayor Chuck Ables
The Geraldine Town Council met for their regular October meeting recently and after the opening prayer and pledge to the flag Mayor Ables reported on the progress of the work being done at the park. The basketball courts have been cleaned, patched, re-sealed, re-marked, and two Bulldog heads painted on the courts, and they are ready to go. Work is still in progress on the tennis court and pickleball court, and they should be ready in the near future. The town will sponsor a Trunk-A-Treat on Tuesday, October 31, at the old gym at the school beginning at 5:00 PM. Churches and businesses are encouraged to come and set up a “trunk” to give out goodies to the kids. The council will give out hot dogs and drinks. The council voted to slightly modify the court fees to be more in line with other Municipalities. The council agreed to sell a small tract of land to DC Equipment that joins DC Equipment and will allow them to expand their operation. The council selected Jake Peppers as the Grand Marshall for the Christmas Parade on December 9. Jake was recently drafted by the Chicago White Sox after a brilliant career at Jacksonville State University. Jake is a 2020 graduate of Geraldine High School. The council voted to contract with Hustle, Inc. to repair the walking track at the park. The town is making plans for the second annual Christmas tree trail at the walking track. Details will be coming soon.
