NACC Community Scholarship Plan
The College will offer a buy one-get one promotion to a limited audience of credit students during the spring 2021 semester.
General Requirements:
- Deadline to complete the online application is December 1, 2020.
- Normal admissions requirements apply.
- All applicants must complete a FAFSA to be eligible.
- This is a competitive “last-dollar” scholarship that applies after all other sources of scholarships/grants have been exhausted.
- This scholarship pays for tuition only. The student is responsible for all required fees, books, and supplies.
- The scholarship will cover a maximum of six (6) hours. The scholarship class(es) will only be applied to equivalent hours of a purchased class. For example, if the student pays for six (6) hours he/she will be eligible for a maximum of six (6) hours of scholarship.
- Limited to space available in existing classes.
- Scholarships are awarded to individual students and may not be shared or transferred.
- To obtain a scholarship under this program the applicant must meet one or more of the specific criteria outlined below.
Specific Criteria
Non-Traditional Student Scholarship – Intended to encourage new non-traditional age students to start college or to come back to college after a break, this scholarship will offer a buy one-get one offer for students in any career path.
Details:
- Must be 24 years or older to apply
- Must be a new student (never enrolled at NACC) or a returning student (has not been enrolled at NACC within the past two years)
- Student must enroll for at least two courses. The NACC Foundation will pay 100% of tuition and standard fees for the first course; the Community Scholarship will pay tuition for second course. The student will be responsible for course fees on the second course and any course-specific fees (insurance, certification costs, etc.), if applicable, on both courses. Students may receive the NACC Foundation Scholarship for more than one course if funds are available.
Dual Enrollment Scholarship – Intended to encourage new 10th grade dual enrollment students to start college, this scholarship will offer a buy one-get one offer for students in any career path.
Details:
- Must be a 10th grade dual enrollment student
- Must be a new student (never enrolled at NACC)
- Must enroll in at least two courses
- Students receiving this scholarship are not limited to a particular program
Success Plus Scholarship (High-Demand, High-Wage Workforce Development Programs) – In an effort to support Governor Ivey’s Success Plus initiative and her quest to add 500,000 high-skilled employees to Alabama’s workforce by 2025, the college will offer a buy one-get one offer in selected high-demand career paths:
- Air Conditioning & Refrigeration
- Business Management & Supervision
- Carpentry
- Certified Production Technician
- Criminal Justice
- Drafting & Design Technology
- Engineering Technician
- Industrial Electronics/Mechatronics
- Industrial Systems Technology
- Machine Tool Technology
- Office Administration
- Welding
Details:
- Open to new students and returning students (has not been enrolled at NACC within the past two years)
- Open to existing part-time students who wish to become full-time students (must pay for same number of hours taken in fall semester with opportunity to match up to six (6) additional scholarship hours for spring)
- Scholarship funds may only be used to pay for technical (Area V) courses.
Career Tech Scholarship for Non-Traditional Gender Careers – In an effort to encourage students to enter non-traditional gender occupations (in which 25% or fewer of one gender comprise the employee population), the college will offer a buy one-get one offer in the following:
Females in the following programs:
- Air Conditioning & Refrigeration
- Carpentry
- Criminal Justice
- Drafting & Design Technology
- Industrial Electronics (Mechatronics)
- Industrial Systems Technology
- Machine Tool Technology
- Welding
Males in the following programs:
- Child Development
- Cosmetology
- Medical Assisting
- Nursing
- Office Administration
- Therapeutic Massage
Details:
- Open to new students and returning students (has not been enrolled at NACC within the past two years)
- Scholarship funds may only be used to pay for technical (Area V) courses.
Underrepresented Student Scholarship – Intended to encourage new students from underrepresented groups to start college or to come back to college after a break, this scholarship will offer a buy one-get one offer for students in any career path.
Details:
- Must be an underrepresented minority (Asian, African American, Hispanic/Latino)
- Must be a new student (never enrolled at NACC) or a returning student (has not been enrolled at NACC within the past two years)
- Students receiving this scholarship are not limited to a particular program
