RAINSVILLE, Ala. – At the Feb. 21, 2024, Rainsville City Council meeting, the Council voted to authorize the City Attorney to file paperwork in probate court to obtain sewer easements from residents who have not previously signed the easements. Councilman Rossen said that anyone who wishes to sign the easement now may contact Attorney Nicky Scott to proceed. The Council voted on this measure after coming out of an executive session.
The Council also passed three other items pertaining to improving the sewer system. Resolution 02-21-2024 awarded $39,171.70 to Talley Lambert Construction for expansion of the sewer line on Industrial Blvd. The Council empowered Mayor Lingerfelt to proceed with the expansion of a sewer pressure line on Rabbit Run Road and a line to the Highlands subdivision garden homes. The money for these projects will come from the American Rescue Plan Act funds.
In other business, the Council approved the following items:
- Contract for the 2024 Corporate Boundary Map
- $3,370 to Map Solutions for the Corporate Boundary Map
- Revenue training for Sandy Little on April 10-12 at the University of Alabama
- Resignation of Gerald Mount at the Rainsville Police Department
- $1,500 to Raymond Shrader for stump removal on Everett Street
- $1,530.48 to DeSoto Printing for garbage can decals
- $500 sponsorship to purchase a backstop net for the Plainview baseball field
- $500 sponsorship to the Rainsville Chamber of Commerce for a Montgomery trip
- Empowering Mayor Lingerfelt to sign a contract (approximately $20,000) for a new disc golf course at the Rainsville Field of Dreams
The next meeting will be on March 4, 2024.
