During the July 1, 2022, Dekalb County Board of Education meeting, a representative from Schneider Energy Services briefed everyone on the upcoming upgrades to the windows at Dekalb County Schools. The new windows will have an aesthetic appeal and improve energy efficiency. The time frame and order of installation will depend on the product availability.
The Board approved the retirement of Tommy Fricks, a bus driver at Geraldine High School, and the resignations of seven others. Those resigning were :
• Nole Yancey – Elementary Teacher and Bus Driver at Crossville Elementary
• Teresa Smith – High School Counselor at Collinsville High School
• Deoadre Woody – Enrichment Teacher at Crossville Middle School
• Kaylee Dukes – Itinerant Special Education LPN/Bus Aide at Fyffe Special Services Center
• Nathaniel Pannell – Title I Aide at Crossville Middle School
• Daniel Williams – Itinerant Technology Integration Specialist for the District
• Michelle Norwood – Itinerant Special Education Teacher at Crossville High School
Ashlyn Benefield, an Itinerant Special Education Teacher at Plainview High School, was approved for a Leave of Absence.
The following employees received transfers:
• Lydia Peek from Itinerant ARI Instructional Coach at Crossville Elementary School to Assistant Principal at Collinsville High School
• Abby Davis from Elementary Teacher at Crossville Elementary School to Elementary Teacher at Collinsville High School
• Vickie Armstrong from CNP Worker at Geraldine High School to Bus Driver at Geraldine High School
• Wendy Haymon from English Language Arts Teacher at Plainview High School to Itinerant Literacy Coach
• Magon McAnelly from High School Counselor at Crossville High School to English Learner Regional Staff
The Board made the following placements:
• Bryant Nelson – Secondary Social Science Teacher at Crossville High School
• Austin Chase Willingham – Secondary Social Science Teacher at Sylvania High School
• David Holt – Career Coach at the DeKalb County Technical Center
• Billie Ann Montgomery – Library Media Specialist at Crossville Middle School
• Cindy Bethune – Elementary Teacher at Valley Head High School
• Ashley Thomas – Mathematics Teacher at Crossville Middle School
• Leah Vaughn – Elementary Teacher at Crossville Elementary School
• Christie Anderson – Elementary Teacher at Crossville Elementary School
• Chuck Williams – P.E. Teacher at Sylvania High School
• Donna Gifford – CNP Worker at Collinsville High School
• Keirstan Hiett – Pre-K Auxillary at Plainview High School
• Brittinie Santiago – CNP Assistant Manager at Henagar Jr. High School
• Allison Jackson – Itinerant Nurse at Plainview High School
Eli Benefield was approved as a volunteer coach at Fyffe High School. Two TEAMS Contracts were awarded to Keith Gorham, a science teacher at Plainview High School, and William Chandler, a science teacher at Crossville High School.
Schneider Energy Services Contract Amendment 5 – Appendix A was also approved by the Board. The Board will meet again on July 13 with a work session at 3:45 and a regular meeting at 4:00.
