WQSB FM and Mountain Valley News recently presented the DeKalb and Jackson County Football Media Day at the Tom Bevill Enrichment Center.
Head coaches and players representing high school football programs across the county gathered to preview the 2022 football season.
Among the topics of discussion coaches and players discussed during their respective sessions included:
• Coaches discussed points of focus for their teams during summer conditioning.
• Many coaches spoke about a player-led team approach, which allows athletes to step up and take a leadership role, take ownership of the culture, and are invested in the process.
• The AHSAA’s 2022-24 realignment, reshuffled regions and teams based on the organization’s competitive balance factor in two-year increments, which brought changes to DeKalb teams.
• Some teams are faced with establishing offensive and/or defensive systems due to the loss of players to last year’s senior class.
• Teams sharpening skills and efficiency.
• Other teams spoke of the continued growth of numbers and participants in their respective programs.
