Bears Fell To Bulldogs
By Nick Hall
The Plainview Bears fell to the Geraldine Bulldogs by a score of 48-6 Friday night in Rainsville. The loss continued what has been a roller-coaster season for the Bears. Still smarting from their 28-0 loss at the hands of Fyffe the previous week, the Bulldogs jumped on Plainview early. After forcing a three-and-out on the Bears opening drive, Geraldine put together a scoring drive behind the running of Anthony Baldwin and the catching of Jackson Bearden. After a second consecutive three-and-out by the Bears, the Bulldogs increased their lead when D.J. Graham hit Bearden for the Bulldogs second touchdown of the night. In the second quarter, Kyle Thackerson returned a Plainview punt 50 yards to extend Geraldine’s lead to 21-0. Caleb Hall added a 19-yard scoring run, and Baldwin added a 62-yard pick-six to close out the half 35-0 in favor of the Bulldogs. Hall and Thackerson added touchdown runs of one and nine yards respectively in the second half. Plainview finally avoided the shutout when Brody McCurdy punched into the endzone from two yards out with 3:26 left in the ballgame. It was too little, too late, however, and the Bears fell to the Bulldogs.
