Well, it’s playoff time in Alabama! It’s about to get fun! But first, poor Wendy just couldn’t pull off the win over the Ole Pickin Guru. She lost on the big boy school, Texas AM. Better luck next year! Now, let’s talk about the last week of the regular season before we jump into the playoffs.
Last Thursday night, the Panthers jumped out to a big lead over the Tigers of Valley Head and had to hang on for dear life as the Tigers came roaring back. Collinsville was able to hang on for a 27-22 win. Fyffe traveled to Sylvania for a big rivalry game. Fyffe led 14-7 at the half. They would get a touchdown in the second half and hold Sylvania to a field goal to win 21-10.
Douglas rolled over the Bison of NSM 56-26. Geraldine demolished Hatton 63-6. Pisgah flew past North Jackson 50-24. Plainview lost a heartbreaker to New Hope with the score 28-26 after being down 21-0 at the half. The Wildcats of Fort Payne took care of Cherokee County 21-14.
Woodville romped Asbury 51-7 to set a new record for most wins in a season for the Panthers. The Wildcats of Scottsboro ran past Decatur 35-20. Madison Academy took care of Westminister Christian, 47-7, and Ole Miss held on to beat Texas AM 38-35. What a great regular season we had! Now, let’s get ready for some playoff action!
The Tigers of Valley Head host Ragland! Ragland comes in with a 6-4 record and 4-2 in region play. Valley Head has a 7-3 record and 5-1 in region play. This battle should be a good one. In a close game, the Tigers of Valley Head slip past Ragland 28-24.
NSM travels to Locust Fork. Locust is 10-0, and Region Champs! NSM is 5-5 and 4-3 in the Region. Locust Fork has one of the top-scoring teams in the state. Look for Locust Fork to have their way with NSM! Locust Fork- 38 NSM 14. West End travels to Fyffe for the first Round. West End has a 5-5 record and 3-3 in the Region. The Big Red Machine is 9-1 and 7-0 and Region champs! The Red Devils take care of business with a 48-14 win over West End!
The Eagles of Pisgah host Pleasant Valley. Pleasant Valley has a 5-5 record and 4-2 in Region. Pisgah has a 9-1 record and 6-1 in the Region. Pisgah rolls past Pleasant Valley 47-7. Vinemont visits Sylvania. Vinemont comes to town with a 5-5 record and 3-3 in the Region. The Rams of Sylvania have an 8-2 record and 7-0 in the Region and Region champs! The Rams rumble past Vinemont 41-10. The Panthers of Collinsville travel to Southeastern! Southeastern has a 6-3 record and 5-1 in Region play. Collinsville comes in with an 8-2 record and 5-2 in the Region. This should be a slobber knocker! Look for the Panthers of Collinsville to pull the upset with a 28-21 win over Southeastern!
Susan Moore makes the trip to Geraldine! Susan Moore is 6-4 and 4-2 in regional play. The Bulldogs of Geraldine are 9-1 and 6-1 in the Region. The Bulldogs of Geraldine win the battle of the Bulldogs 42-17. North Jackson travels down to Haleyville. Haleyville is 7-3 and 6-1 in the Region. North Jackson is 4-6 and 4-3 in the Region. The Chiefs of North Jackson keep it close, but Haleyville takes the win 31-28. Mortimer Jordan travels to Fort Payne. Mortimer Jordan comes to town with an 8-2 record and 4-2 in Region play. Fort Payne has a 6-4 record and 3-2 in the Region! The Wildcats of Fort Payne win 34-31 in a close one. Moody goes to Scottsboro. Moody brings in an 8-2 record and 5-1 in the Region. Scottsboro also comes in with an 8-2 overall record. They are 4-1 in regional play. This will be a doozy! The triple option of Scottsboro will be just too much for Moody as the Wildcats win 28-24! In big boy ball, Georgia slips past Ole Miss. 31-24.
