Week 10 is here, the last regular season game. Lots of teams are moving on to basketball. A few teams will move on to the playoffs’ first round next week. Well, Nick didn’t fare too well against the ole Guru! I went 8-3 Nick went 7-4. Austin Holt, on the other hand, was 9-1. I bet he had someone picking for him. There is no way an insurance man can pick better than the ole Guru. Well, he is one of the few who have accomplished that! Now, on to last week’s games!
The Panthers of Collinsville tamed the Bison of NSM 56-7. The Big Red Machine of Fyffe rumbled past Ider 46-7. The Rams of Sylvania rolled over Westbrook Christian 30-7. The Bulldogs of Geraldine took the sting out of Glencoe 54-7. The Tigers of Valley Head hammered Gaylesville 53-14. The Eagles of Pisgah ran past Section 50-20. The Bears of Plainview scalped Ohatchee 34-18. The Wildcats of Fort Payne lost a heartbreaker to Athens 29-28. Coosa Christian waxed the Panthers of Woodville. The Chiefs of North Jackson demolished DAR 85-14. The Wildcats of Scottsboro lost to Mars Hill Bible 36-35. Now, let’s talk about the last week of the regular season!
We’ve got us a couple of Thursday night slobber knockers this week! Collinsville will travel up to Valley Head for a big rivalry game. These two have been playing each other for a long time. Both teams are very well-coached. They both will be moving on to the playoffs next week. But they both want to win this game for bragging rights! This game will be a close one, but I look for Collinsville to slip past Valley Head 31-27.
This next game should be a dozy, too! Fyffe will travel up 75 to face off with Sylvania! You talk about a game. Both teams come in with just one loss. Both teams are Region Champs! Both have great coaches! Both have excellent players! Both want to win! But only one can win! Who you got? In a knockdown drag-out, Fyffe beats Sylvania 38-34.
The NSM Bison will host Douglas. Douglas is a bigger school, so you would think they would win. I don’t think so; NSM wins 28-21! Geraldine travels to Hatton. This will be a good warm-up game for the playoffs. Geraldine beats Hatton 37-21.
Plainview heads to New Hope to finish out the season. The Bears are coming off a win over Ohatchee. Can they finish the season with a win? Yes, the Bears defeat New Hope 38-17. Fort Payne travels to Cherokee County to try to knock off the #2 team in the state in class 4A. I think this will be a tough road for the Wildcats. Cherokee County defeats Fort Payne 38-28.
Woodville travels to Asbury to try to set the All-Time winning record for the school! Woodville sets the record with a 31-14 win over Asbury. Scottsboro hosts Decatur after a heartbreaking loss last week. Can they bounce back this week? I think so; Scottsboro beats Decatur 41-28.
Number 2 ranked Madison Academy travels to play 8-1 Westminster Christian of Huntsville! This should be a good one. Westminster Christian pulls off the upset with a 42-38 win over Madison Academy. In big boy football, Ole Miss will take the win over Jimbo and Texas AM 31-21! Well, that’s it for the 2023 regular season. Don’t worry; I will be back next week for the first round of the playoffs! Until then, make sure to save me a spot by the fence! Stay warm!
