Hello friends, I am worn out after a great week of high school football! Well, we had a split on the Out-picking Bum contest this week. How about seven-year-old Scout beating the ole Guru? She went 10-2 for the week while I was 9-3. She not only beat me, but she beat everyone who picks in the MVN pickin contest! These people are supposed to know what they are doing. Congratulations to Scout. Great Job!
On the other hand, Blake Sizemore was 7-5. It is obvious that he needs to stick to what he knows how to do, like taking care of the Young Republicans and making sure we have power from TVA. Picking football is not one of his greatest achievements! This week, Casey Gaddis thinks he can outpick the ole Guru. He is a baseball coach; does he really think he can outpick me? I guess he will have to find out the hard way!
Now, on to some football! Man, what a week of football! The Big Red Machine, the Red Devils of Fyffe, rolled past the Bears of Plainview 49-14. In a barn burner, Pisgah outscored Sylvania 40-34. Westbrook Christian ran past Section 56-12. Woodville shutout Brindlee Mountain 42-0. Scottsboro trampled Priceville 56-21. St. John Paul II took down the Chiefs of North Jackson 40-26. The Wildcats of Fort Payne beat the Knights of Arab 38-14. Collinsville rolled over Gaston 47-0. Valley Head spoiled Ider’s Homecoming 61-14. Clay-Chalkville slipped past Thompson 36-33. The Bulldogs of Georgia scored late to defeat the Tigers of Auburn 27-20. Texas A&M roasted the Razorbacks of Arkansas 34-22! Let’s move on to Week 6!
The Red Devils of Fyffe travel down the valley to face the Collinsville Panthers! Both teams come in with a 4-1 record. This should be a good one. Collinsville is very young. The Red Devils are battle-tested. I look for the Red Devils to get the win, 41-31.
Section travels to Ider. Both teams are coming off of a loss. I think the Hornets of Ider win 28-14. Sylvania travels to Glencoe. The Rams are coming off a tough loss to Pisgah. Will they have a hangover from the loss? I think not; Sylvania wins big. Sylvania 49 Glencoe 7.
Sand Rock travels to NSM. The Bison will make pebbles out of the Rock! NSM 38 Sand Rock 12. Geraldine goes to the creek banks of Ohatchee! Both teams are 2-1 in the region. Geraldine will be 3-1 after they beat the Indians of Ohatchee 34-17.
Valley Head travels to Cedar Bluff. The Tigers got things going last week as they put 61 points on the board! Can they keep it going? I think so, Valley Head 31, Cedar Bluff 14.
Pisgah travels to Whitesburg Christian after the big win over Sylvania. Will they have a letdown this week? No way, The Eagles of Pisgah fly past Whitesburg Christian 54-14.
The Bears of Plainview host the Eagles of Hokes Bluff for homecoming. Will it be a happy homecoming? I am afraid not, Hokes Bluff 28 Plainview 24.
Fort Payne heads to Huntsville to take on Lee. I look for Dax and the boys to win big! Fort Payne 48 Lee 14. Woodville hosts Gaylesville Thursday night with the chance to tie the all-time win record at Woodville. Can they do it? Yes, Woodville 41, Gaylesville 17.
New Hope travels to North Jackson. North Jackson is looking for a win! Not this week, my friend! New Hope wins 38-28. Scottsboro heads to Guntersville. Scottsboro upset Guntersville last year. Can they pull off the win again? I think they can! Scottsboro 31, Guntersville 28!
Well, that’s it for week 6! Time is flying by, get out and see some great high school football before it ends! Make sure to save me a spot by the fence! See you next week!
