Bum’s Playoff Predictions
Then there were 3! The first round of the playoffs was not good for our local teams. Fyffe, Plainview and NSM are the only ones still standing. The Sylvania Rams fell to Winfield 40-24. Geraldine lost to J.B. Pennington 42-14. Brilliant defeated Valley Head 43-25. Fort Payne lost to Gardendale 52-24. Westbrook Christian defeated Section 42-0. Good Hope took down North Jackson 33-8 and Pickens County defeated Woodville 33-8. Fyffe defeated Oakman 69-21, Plainview beat Vinemont 41-14 and NSM defeated Southeastern 19-0. Congratulations to all of the teams for making it this far. It has been a crazy year and all of the teams are winners for being able to compete in these times! We would also like to say good luck to Fyffe, Plainview and NSM as they move on to the second round of the playoffs. Bring home the championship.
With all that said Ethel has put her foot down and it is time for me to go into hibernation. She has me a shopping list for Christmas and honey do list to get done. It has been a fun and crazy year and I look forward to maybe a normal 2021! Thank you for allowing met a chance to do what I enjoy, talking high school football and picken games. Congratulations to Mayor Rodger Lingerfelt for winning the pickem contest this year. I am pretty sure he had somebody picking for him. He ain’t that smart about football! I hope everyone has as safe and Happy Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year. Let’s pray that this COVID will be a thing of the past next football season. We still have the three teams left, so get out and cheer them on! But most of all make sure to save me a 6 foot spot at the fence for the second round of the playoff! It’s been fun but all things must come to an end. (A quote from Ethal) I hope you have a great year and I hope to see you for the 2021 high school football season!!!!. Bum Pickens
