Bum’s Week #9 Predictions
Week 9 has arrived. Some of the teams will be playing their last game of the year. It is hard to believe that we are nearing the end. This COVID-19 season has gone better than I would have expected. It has still been rough on so many. I just hope that a vaccine will come soon. Enough of that! Collinsville hosted Asbury for homecoming. The Panthers rammed Asbury 40-19. Sardis and Crossville had to be canceled, giving Crossville their first victory by forfeit! Cornerstone and Evangel were canceled. The Fort Payne Wildcats got past Pell City 42-20. Fyffe had no trouble with the Geraldine Bulldogs as they won 51-7. Falkville stayed unbeaten with a 38-0 win over the Ider Hornets. The Plainview Bears all but assured themselves of a home-field advantage with a 29-20 win over the Sylvania Rams. North Jackson locked up a playoff spot with a 25-21 win over John Paul II. With a 44-13 win over Whitesburg Christian, NSM sets itself up to play for a region championship with Falkville on Friday. Section secured a playoff berth with a 25-14 win over Pisgah. Woodville is Playoff-bound with a 38-20 win over Galesville. What a week! Let’s move on to this week.
The Big Red Machine (Fyffe Red Devils) hosts the Rams of Asbury. Asbury is about to get ready for basketball. Fyffe wins 56-7. Collinsville travels to Geraldine. This game is a big game for both. If Geraldine wins, they are in the playoffs. If Collinsville wins, it will create a mess! A three-way tie. There won’t be a mess; Geraldine wins 28-17. Ider travels to Whitesburg Christian to finish the season. Ider wins 24-21. East Limestone heads to Sylvania. This will be a good one! Sylvania gets the win 31-28. Valley Head travels to Sumiton Christian for a region game that doesn’t matter! Well, for Valley Head, it doesn’t. It isn’t going to matter; Valley Head wins 38-14. Oxford travels to Fort Payne for the region championship, and Oxford becomes region champs with a 34-21 win. Section travels to Hanceville. Hanceville wins 31-21. North Jackson will travel to New Hope. There will be little hope for New Hope as North Jackson wins 31-17. Scottsboro travels to Pell City for a barn burner, but Scottsboro wins 24-17.
Crossville travels to Douglas with a one-game win streak! Can they make it 2? No, Douglas wins 27-21. Falkville goes to NSM looking for a region championship, but NSM is looking for one too! This will be a slobber knocker! Falkville wins 28-27. Pisgah travels to Tanner for a winner takes all – Win, and you are in the playoffs. Tanner wins 21-14. Appalachian heads to Woodville. Tanner leaves Woodville with a loss! Woodville wins 24-14. Alabama travels to Tennessee for the third Saturday in October! It does not matter what Saturday it is; Bama wins 48-24. Big Ten finally plays a game. Ohio St host Nebraska. Coach Frost wanted to play so bad! After the game, he will wish they were still in quarantine. Ohio St. wins 42-10. Well, that about does it for this week. Make sure you wear a mask and save me a 6-foot spot by the fence! See you next week!
