Collinsville (1-0) topped Crossville (0-2) 33-7 at Chad Hawkins Stadium last Saturday.
In the first drive, Keaton DeBoard rushed for a 48-yard touchdown run to cap a 66-yard scoring drive.
Gavin Land took a handoff for a 17-yard scoring run extending their lead to 14-0 with 4:18 left of the first.
Collinsville’s defense held strong as Crossville’s Antonio Quintana recovered a fumble early in the second quarter.
Capturing a first-and-goal at the 4-yard line, DeBoard rushed on the right side for a touchdown with 3:49 left in the half.
Yosmer Mendez intercepted a Collinsville pass at the 15-yard line, but despite their efforts, the Panthers held the Lions off.
At the half, Collinsville led 20-0. Early in the third period, Mason McAteer connected with Kyler Beene for another Panther touchdown at the 4:57 mark.
McAteer slid past the Lions’ defense, rushing through the middle for a 27-yard TD run with less than 3 minutes left in the third.
With the Panthers’ 33-0 lead, Collinsville substituted many of its starters in the final frame of play.
At the 3:22 mark, Crossville’s Caleb Causey rushed for a 2-yard touchdown for the Lions’ lone score of the night.
Crossville travels to Guntersville Friday, September 2, for a Class 5A, Region 7 clash. Collinsville hosts Section for its Class 2A, Region 7 matchup.
