Crossville fell to Class 2A undefeated Southeastern 48-20 last Friday night at Crossville Memorial Stadium.
The Mustangs (5-0) secured an early lead when Ben Hall returned the opening kickoff 82 yards for a touchdown.
Nathan Howell recovered a Crossville fumble to set up Jackson McMillian connecting with Wyatt Reid on a 21-yard touchdown pass.
Crossville answered with a 52-yard scoring drive following Steven Juans’ rushing efforts. Caleb Causey made his way from the 1-yard line for a Lion touchdown late in the first quarter.
In the second quarter, McMillian and Hall connected for an 87-yard touchdown, as the Lions added a 24-yard field goal from Cristian Rodgriguez, cutting the score 21-9.
Southeasterns’ offense didn’t let up as Jarrod Wimmians rushed 4 yards for a touchdown with three minutes left in the frame.
In the second half Crossville capitalized off Juan’s 30-yard kickoff return for a 31-yard field goal from Rodriguez with less than two minutes left in the third, trimming the score to 35-12.
Despite the deficit, the Lions continued their offensive efforts in the fourth, as Causey broke free up the right side for a 29-yard touchdown run with only seconds left in the game, for a 48-20 final.
Juan finished with 131 yards rushing for the Lions, and Causey tallied 91 yards.
