Devils on a Hot Streak

The Fyffe Red Devils welcomed the Wellborn Panthers, who were #2 in Region 5, in the second round of the AHSAA playoffs on Friday night. Fyffe’s unbeaten record was on the line, as well as the opportunity to continue on their path to the 3A State Championships. Rowell #4 was back in the quarterback position this week and went 2 for 2 with two passing touchdowns. He also saw major success rushing the ball and had 20 carries with four touchdowns. Gillilan #3 and Stiefel #15 were the next leading rushers with 47 yards apiece. Fyffe’s offense would see an impressive total of 465 yards on the night. Fyffe’s defense held the Panthers until the second quarter when they scored for the first time and made the score 21-7 Fyffe. Fyffe led at the half 28-7. The Red Devils would not stop scoring and put up an impressive 42 points to Wellborn’s 13. Fyffe will have to travel for the third round to Ohatchee to face the Indians on Friday the 20 at 7:00. Ohatchee was ranked #3 in Region 5 and has beaten LCHS in the first round and beat Winfield last week in round 2. For ticket information, visit the GoFan.com website.
