The Fyffe Red Devils continued their winning ways, improving their overall record to 15-3 last week with wins over the Lions at Crossville and at home against the Asbury Rams. Below are details of both games.

Fyffe 67 – Crossville 60
The Red Devils controlled the game early, jumping out to a 17-12 lead over the Lions. The Red Devils got the hot hand in the second period, scoring 27 points to take a 44-24 advantage at the half. Crossville wouldn’t go quietly however, cutting Fyffe’s lead back to single digits by the final buzzer. Parker Godwin led the red Devils’ scoring with 21 points, followed by Gabe Gardner with 13 and Austin Buster who finished with 11. Tate Goolesby led off the boards for the Red Devils grabbing 11 rebounds. Blake Bouldin led the scoring effort for the Lions with 18, and Jesse Baily netted 16. “We played great the first half,” said Fyffe head coach Neil Thrash. He added, “Turnovers, fouls and injuries plagued us in the second half but also, Crossville turned up their play.”

Fyffe 58 – Asbury 40
Neither team could muster much offense in the opening period as Fyffe led the Asbury Rams 7-5 at the end of the first. Both teams found a rhythm in the second period, going back and forth until the half where the Red Devils led 24-20. Fyffe took control in the third period with eight unanswered points. The Rams fought back but went into the final period down 38-28. Fyffe took control for good with a 14-4 run. The Red Devils had four players in double figures. Parker Godwin led the way with 12, followed by Austin Buster and Tucker Goolesby with 11 points each, and Gabe Gardner and Micah Johnson who each netted 10. Johnson also grabbed 12 rebounds to record a double-double. Matt Wilson and Hunter Patterson netted 10 points each for the Rams. “It was a hard-fought game, but we played well,” said Thrash.
