After reeling off five straight road wins, the Fyffe Red Devils moved to 6-0 last week after taking down the Crossville Lions in front of the home crowd. Fyffe led 18-15 at the end of the first period and 40-29 at the half. But the Red Devils really started to impose their will in the third, stretching the lead to 63-36, mostly behind the shooting of Austin Buster who finished with 23 points on the night. The Final score was 77-56 and other significant contributors to the winning effort were Parker Godwin who put up 18 points and eight assists. Micah Johnson had 14 points while Tate and Tucker Goolesby missed a double-double by one point, scoring nine points and grabbing 10 rebounds each. Scoring leaders for the Lions were Trent Bryant with 16, Blake Bouldin with 14 and Jesse Baily with 11. “It was our first home game of the year. Our kids played a solid game but were a little too pumped up and committed too many fouls which kept us from getting into the rhythm we wanted,” said coach Neil Thrash. “But it was a good win. We play Geraldine at home next and we’ll need another big crowd.”
