The Lady Bears bested Sylvania 63-42 at DeKalb County Schools Coliseum to capture the Class 3A, Area 14 Championship last Thursday night.
Lauren Jimmerson led Plainview with double-digits scoring 15 points, as the Bears’ second-quarter 27-point surge lifted them 41-24 halftime advantage.
Plainview’s defensive efforts carried over to the second half, as the Rams continued battling.
Jimmerson added six of the 10 points, while Kami Sanders and Hannah Regula each added two in the third. Sylvania put up nine points behind the efforts of Lilley Frost, Anna Murdock, and Ambriel Stopyak.
The Bears pulled away for good in the final frame, netting 12 points to the Rams’ nine. Jimmerson and Rowell each shot a 3-pointer en route to a 63-42 victory over Sylvania.
Plainview’s Sawyer Hulgan finished with 12 points, all of them 3-point shots. Ali Price added 10 points, Kami Sanders and Saydi Jackson each contributed eight points, Hannah Regula tallied four points, and Gracie Rowell and Kadie Brooks chipped in three points apiece for the Bears.
Anna Murdock paced the Rams with a game-high 17 points, Leianna Currie added 12 points, Ambriel Stopyak finished with seven points, Lilley Frost had four points, and Kirby Wisner chipped in two points for Sylvania.
