Lady Bears Softball

The Plainview Lady Bears softball season has begun and the Lady Bears are off to a hot start. Their record is 3-1-1 even though their first game was on March 4.
PHS v/s Collinsville
In their season opener, the Lady Bears defeated the Panthers 11-0 on Thursday, March 4, as Tessa Word and Lily Boswell worked together to pitch a shutout. Boswell earned the win for the Lady Bears and only allowed one hit and struck out nine over her three innings. Word relieved for the remainder of two innings. The Lady Bears tallied eight hits in the game while Elaine Puckett and Hannah Regula earned two hits apiece. Puckett got the Lady Bears first homerun of the season when she knocked it out in the fifth inning.
PHS v/s Madison County
The Lady Bears led 2-0 at the end of the first inning, but Madison County scored three runs in the top of the third. Plainview jumped out on a 12-run scoring rally in the bottom of the third to take the lead and secure the 14-3 win on Friday, March 5. Mia Tidmore started the scoring frenzy when she knocked one over the fence and scored two runs. Tessa Word tripled then came back around and she knocked one over the fence. Lily Boswell was the winning pitcher for the game and struck out eight.
PHS v/s Guntersville
The Lady Bears’ bats continued to spark as they defeated Guntersville 13-1 on Friday. The Lady Bears led 1-0 after the first inning, but Halle Brown, Mia Tidmore, Elaine Puckett, and Tessa Word each earned RBIs in the second inning alone giving the Lady Bears five runs. Plainview totaled 14 hits while Abby Williams, Brown, Tidmore, Word, and Ali Price all collected multiple hits. Word was also the winning pitcher for the day and allowed one run on two hits and struck out seven.
PHS v/s West Point
On Saturday, March 6, the Lady Bears tied with West Point 1-1. Plainview scored one run in the bottom of the second off an error when Jada Hampton bunted. Lily Boswell, Abby Williams, and Mia Tidmore all had one hit for the Bears. Tessa Word was on the mound for the Bears and allowed two hits and struck out nine.
PHS v/s Cullman
The Lady Bears took their first loss of the season when they faced Cullman on Saturday, March 6 and lost 9-5. The Lady Bears trailed 8-3 at the bottom of the third before they scored two more runs. The Lady Bears totaled 11 hits for the day while Elaine Puckett, Tessa Word, and Ali Price brought in two hits apiece. Hannah Regula knocked one over the fence in the first inning. Halle Brown, Lily Boswell, and Word all pitched from the mound for the Lady Bears.
The Lady Bears continue their season with a matchup against Asbury on Monday, March 8, Scottsboro on Tuesday, March 9, and Buckhorn on Thursday, March 11.
