The NSM Bison improve to 4-1 as they stampeded the Rams on Friday night.
NSM took the opening kickoff and drove down the field as Quarterback, Landon Green scored in from 9-yards out to give the Bison a 6-0 lead. Sylvania drove down the field but had to settle for a field goal to cut the lead to 6-3. NSM answered with another long drive that resulted in a touchdown to give the Bison a 12-3 lead at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, Green connected with Austin Hill for a 90-yard touchdown pass to extend the lead to 18-3. NSM’s defense held the Rams to a 3 and out. It only took NSM three plays to score as Green rambled 15-yards to give NSM a 24-3 lead. On Sylvania’s next possession, they moved the ball 69 yards to the NSM 20-yard line. On the next play, Gareth Anderson fumbled and NSM recovered at the 21. NSM wasted no time as they handed the ball to Juan Luna who raced 79 yards for the score to give the Bison a 31-3 lead. NSM stopped the Rams and forced a punt with just a few minutes to play in the half. NSM Quarterback, Green found Stone Yates in the end zone as the clock ran out to give NSM 38-3 lead at the half.
In the second half, Sylvania scored on a 67 yard run from Anderson to cut the lead to 38-9. The Rams recovered an onside kick, but the Bison forced a 3 and out to get the ball back. NSM added a touchdown in the fourth quarter and Sylvania scored late for a final score of 44-15 in favor of the Bison.
Landon Green led the way for NSM as he completed 11 of 18 passes for 245 yards. Juan Luna had 167 yards rushing for the Bison. Austin Hill was the leading receiver for NSM with 171 yards on 7 catches. For the Rams, Gareth Anderson rushed for 146 yards.
NSM will travel to Cedar Bluff on Friday night for a big region matchup at 7pm. Sylvania travels to Brindlee Mountain for region play Friday night at 7pm.
