Panthers’ Big Homecoming Win
Collinsville downed Section for a big homecoming win Friday night. Malachi Orr was the first to hit pay dirt for the Panthers from 7 yards out. Jason Perez added his first of five PATs, and Collinsville had the lead for good. After a quick stop by the Panthers’ defense, Kaleb Jones struck next, connecting with Jacob Jones for an 11-yard scoring strike to stretch the lead to 14-0. The Lions looked as though they were going to counter when Jones ended a good Section drive with an interception. Jones then led the Panthers back downfield to a 3-yard touchdown by Malachi Orr to open the second quarter. Jones scored on a 17-yard keeper later in the quarter and followed up with a 43-yard scoring strike to Michael Tucker to end the half with a 35-0 lead. Perez added the Panthers’ last touchdown, a 15-yard run, in the third quarter to extend Collinsville’s advantage to 41-0. Section finally escaped the shutout with less than two minutes to play in the game when Jace Holcomb slipped into the endzone from five yards out. In the end, Collinsville downed Section for a 41-7 homecoming win. Jones went 7-of-9 passing on the night for 151 yards and two scores. Jones also rushed for 17 yards and a touchdown on one carry. Holcomb led Section on the ground with 94 yards on 24 carries.
