Plainview captured its first win of the season in a 28-7 victory following a dominating performance against Glencoe last Friday night.
The win also marked head coach Dale Pruitt’s first win after returning to Plainview as head coach.
Levi Brown set up an 89-yard drive on 13-plays for an Andrew Hall 24-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Brayden Lingerfelt kicked a good PAT.
Running back Dylan McCullough set up a scoring play after intercepting Glencoe’s Nolan Fairley.
With only seconds left in the half McCullough connected with quarterback Trey Rutledge on an 18-yard touchdown pass lifting the Bears to 14-0 at the half.
The third quarter held no scoring drives from either team. However, by the middle of the final frame, Plainview took control of the ball as McCullough rushed for a 5-yard score. Lingerfelt added another good kick making it 21-0.
The Bears forced Glencoe to punt in the following drive, blocked by Grant Martin. McCullough fired off his third score of the evening on a 31-yard run extending Plainview’s lead. Lingerfelt’s kick made it 28-0.
Glencoe’s Fairley rallied for a 2-yard run with seconds remaining in the game to cut the score 28-7.
Mccullough led the Bears with 152 rushing yards, 16 carries and three touchdowns. Samuel Crowell rushed for 53 yards with 10 carries, and Andrew Hall rushed for 42 yards with five carries and a touchdown.
Trey Rutledge rushed for 19 yards, nine carries and 34 passing yards. Plainview’s Lingerfelt completed 4 of 4 extra points for the night, and the Bears finished with 311 yards rushing.
With the win, the Bears improved to a 1-3 overall and 1-2 in Class 3A, Region 6. Plainview hosts No. 2-ranked Fyffe (4-0) on Friday night for a non-region matchup.
