Red Devils Raid Hornets
By Nick Hall
Fyffe pitched its sixth shutout of the year Thursday night. The Red Devils’ defense, which may prove to be the greatest strength of this team heading into the playoffs, has only given up 23 points this season. Those points were divided over just three games. The Ider Hornets found out what it was like to try to break through the red wall Thursday night. They didn’t. As usual, Fyffe’s offense scored early and often on their way to another Red Devil route. Justin Stiefel put Fyffe on the board first with a 60-yard punt return. Brody Dalton kicked the first of six PATs on the night and then followed it up by catching a 5-yard touchdown pass from Zach Pyron. Ike Rowell added an 18-yard scoring run, and the Red Devils took a 20-0 lead into the second quarter. Pyron scored on a 13-yard keeper to start the second followed a few minutes later by a 38-yard scoring run by Malachi Mize. Rowell scored again late in the second on 15-yard run to give Fyffe a 41-0 halftime lead. Brody Hicks added a 9-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Yahir Balcazar added the PAT, and Fyffe pitched its sixth shutout of the year, outscoring Ider 47-0.
